Ernest Thompson is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from the Carolinas (USA). He plays guitar, bass, banjo, violin, keyboards, and pedal steel, often all on the same recording. His 2022 debut album, The Words I Heard, on which he played 13 instruments and sang 9 original songs, was well-received by local and online press. Thompson’s style spans gentle country-folk, electric blues, rock, acoustic songwriter, boogie, and several shades in between, with lyrics reflecting on love and life. His sound has been compared to The Grateful Dead, Jim Croce, and Gram Parsons.
“Ernest Thompson’s new album, The Words I Heard, is something of a tour-de-force. Thompson played everything but the drums on the album’s nine tracks, mixing acoustic guitar with violin, organ, dobro, banjo and pedal steel.”
Ernest Thompson is a singer songwriter with long ties to the Greensboro Community. He performs frequently in Charleston, SC, but had his first homecoming performance on Tuesday, as part of his southeast tour. Ernest was so happy to see many friends come out to support him. Let’s hope we can get Ernest back to town to play again soon!
